Consolidated sales at IC packaging and testing houses Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) and King Yuan Electronics Company (KYEC) registered sequential growth of 12.3% and 16%, respectively, in the second quarter of 2016.
KYEC has reported June revenues of NT$1.74 billion (US$53.8 million) which hit a record high for the fourth consecutive month. KYEC's revenues for the second quarter of 2016 reached NT$5.06 billion, also hitting a company record.
Strong wafer testing demand for handset SoCs, image sensors, MEMS and graphics processors drove growth of KYEC's revenues during the second quarter, according to market watchers. KYEC is expected to enjoy brisk sales in the third quarter thanks to a pull-in of orders for modem chips from a US client, the watchers said.
SPIL has posted June revenues of NT$7.39 billion, down 0.9% on month. SPIL's revenues for the second quarter of 2016 came to NT$21.68 billion, the second-highest quarterly levels in the company's history.
SPIL said previously sales generated from the communications market would register a sequential increase in the second quarter, while those from the PC segment would rise only slightly. Sales from the consumer electronics sector would stay flat on quarter, the company added. |
