Google's involvement in the mobile phone business isn't going to move beyond working with third-party manufacturers, says CEO Sundar Pichai. While speaking at the Code Conference, Pichai mentioned Google doesn't plan on making its own handsets, so it'll keep working with companies like Huawei and LG. The exception to this is with its experimental Project Ara modular phone.

Pichai was asked about the upcoming Nexus phones and whether Google would make them. He said Google will be "more opinionated about the design of the phones" and will also be more involved on the software side, but it won't make the devices.
