Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) has published a statement in Taiwan's local newspapers saying management is on the same page with the company's chairman Bough Lin regarding a potential takeover bid by rival Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE). If what they call the hostile takeover takes place, the management will follow Lin's lead whether to leave or stay with the company.

SPIL is fighting against a takeover bid by competitor ASE.

A total of 69 managers signed the petition published in the newspapers backing SPIL's chairman in his fight against the takeover.

The statement claimed that Taiwan's merger rules are incomplete and a successful hostile takeover by ASE would cause tremendous damage to Taiwan's society and economy. All the consequences, such as a brain drain and loss of orders, would jeopardize the Taiwan government's credibility and the country's competitiveness, it said.
