Shortly after Fujitsu announced that it is splitting its PC and mobile businesses, another financial-struggling manufacturer has announced similar plans. Toshiba has just announced that will now focus its global mobile efforts on the more profitable business notebook category.

This means it is downsizing its consumer lineup, partially withdrawing from consumer notebook market. The consumer portfolio will focus only on the Japanese and American markets. Toshiba has yet to announce what models are affected, but we can assume that those are the current Satellite, Qosmio, Kira, and Chromebooks notebooks.

The company has also announced that it plans to ask for a new 300 billion yen ($2.49 billion) credit line by the end of January to fund a large-scale restructuring, which was necessary due to recent $1.3 billion accounting scandal.
