Memory packaging and testing firm Powertech Technology (PTI) saw consolidated revenues reach NT$3.355 billion (US$115 million) in December 2010, up 0.12% from the previous monthly record set in November. Fellow company Walton Advanced Engineering reported consolidated revenues of NT$765 million for December, a monthly record for the 10th consecutive month.
PTI's consolidated sales topped NT$10 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010, rising 2.22% on quarter and in-line with the company's internal estimates.
PTI is likely to experience a sales decrease sequentially in the first quarter of 2011, due to a production cutback at major DRAM client Elpida Memory, market sources were quoted as saying in previous reports. But the drop will be limited to single digits as the order loss is offset by growth in orders for mobile DRAM and other niche memory products, the sources said.
Walton turned in NT$2.23 billion in fourth-quarter revenues, up 12.6% on quarter. Sales were buoyed by growing demand from DRAM clients, which are in the process of migrating their production to more advanced processes.
However, Walton may see revenues drop about 10% sequentially in the first quarter of 2011, affected by less working days in the quarter and a demand slowdown due to plunging DRAM prices.
