Shenzhen Longsys Electronics has announced it is partnering with chip provider Marvell to manufacture SSDs, and will set up a production line for SSDs at its packaging plant in Suzhou.

Marvell provides Longsys controller chips for SSDs, as well as the source code of its chip solutions for Longsys to develop and implement algorithms and protocols, Longsys indicated.

Longsys is also vying for SSD orders for data centers from local governments in China, the storage device maker said. In line with the government's "made in China" policy, Longsys' manufacturing line for SSDs will be established locally, the firm added.

Longsys has formed several strategic alliances with its upstream and downstream partners. Taiwan-based backend firm Orient Semiconductor Electronics (OSE) and design house Innostor Technology are among the companies in which Longsys has invested.

Founded in 1998, Longsys specializes in the design and manufacture of NAND flash-based storage devices including flash drives, memory cards and embedded solutions such as eMMC devices. Longsys has grown its workforce to more than 400 employees.
