Smartphone vendors including Samsung Electronics, Motorola (Lenovo) and Huawei all plan to unveil their new models of smartwatches at the upcoming IFA 2015 in order to compete effectively with Apple Watch.

Samsung is expected to unveil its new flagship model, the Gear S2; Motorola will showcase its Moto 360 2; and Huawei will start marketing its Huawei Watch in early September.

However, most outer designs of new smartwatches rolled out by vendors recently have been taking clues from Apple Watch, including round-shape design, metal body and functionality, according to sources from Taiwan-based supply chain.

Meanwhile, the ecosystem of Android Wear seems to have not grown strong enough to compete effectively with that of Apple Watch as Samsung still utilizes its Tizen OS, LG Electronics uses its webOS, and other vendors are using closed-end systems, the sources noted.
