Global LCD TV panel shipments reached 22.45 million in May 2015, up 8.1% on year and up 2.7% on month, according to several China media reports quoting Sigmaintell Consulting. The shipments produced 10.04 million square meters in panel surface area shipped, up 10.1% on year and up 1.9% on month.
LG Display was responsible for 4.57 million in unit shipments in May, representing a 20.4% share to hold the top spot globally. Innolux came in at second with 4.31 million in unit shipments followed by Samsung Display at 4.3 million to hold 19.2% and 19.1% shares, respectively.
BOE saw shipments reach three million to hold the number four spot with a 13.3% market share and AU Optronics (AUO) held the number five spot with a 9.9% share. BOE's shipments grew 17% on month in May, which also bumped up its overall market share, and its Ultra HD (4K) TV panel shipments grew 30% on month in May.
In May, 4K TV panel shipments reached 3.017 million to hold a 13.4% penetration, up from 12.6% a month earlier. The firm estimated the percentage will increase to 14.4% in June to bring about an overall 13.5% penetration or the second quarter of 2015.
Global TV panel shipments are expected to reach 22.44 million in June to bring about a total of 66.77 million in the second quarter, the reports said. |
