Asustek Computer has said that it shipped over 1.5 million smartphones in May, allowing its handset business to start generating profits in the month.

The company also expects its smartphone shipments to reach over two million units in June.

Additionally, sales of the company's recently released ZenFone Selfie phone are expected to start gaining momentum in July, Asustek added.

The ZenFone Selfie features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, Qualcomm 8-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 CPU and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 cover.

Asustek also plans to launch a new series of ZenPad tablet product in July, aiming to ramp up its tablet shipments to 8-10 million units in 2015.
