Wistron shipped 1.3 million notebooks in May, down 7.14% from 1.4 million units in April and the company currently expects the volume in the second quarter to suffer a sequential decline, down from original expectations of 0-5% growth.
The company noted that its clients are not aggressive in pulling in their orders and this could be because consumers are waiting for the release of Windows 10 and have delayed their notebook purchases.
In May, Wistron also shipped 600,000 LCD monitors, one million desktops, 150,000 servers and 400,000 LCD TVs.
Wistron originally expected its notebook shipments in May to enjoy growth from April and would continue rising in April. Although the company's shipments in May were weaker than April, the volume in June is still expected to have a chance to reach 1.7 million units.
In addition, Wistron's smartphone shipment goal of 20 million units in 2015 is also unlikely to be achieved since the company so far only shipped 5.05 million smartphones and tablets for the first five months in 2015. |
