Asus isn't boarding the Windows 10 for phones train like some of its competitors. Windows 10 is supposed to be on every device but Asus chairman Jonney Shih doesn't think that is necessarily something that makes sense. From Shih's point of view, Windows is not the right platform for smartphones.

There's not yet a good reason to support Windows 10 Mobile with phones, from the point of view of Shih and Asus. Android and iOS are the platforms people care about in the mobile sector and that means Asus is solely focused on Android.
Windows 10 could be better on phones than Windows 8 but it'd have to be drastically different to really compete in the market. In Q4 2014, there were 289.1 million Android phone sales and just 10.7 million Windows Phone sales.
Shih believes Windows is best on laptops, desktops, and two-in-ones. If he had it his way, Microsoft would probably stick to the markets it's best in and that would mean ditching phones. |
