Taiwan-based handset ODMs and component suppliers, including Pegatron, Foxconn Electronics, Compal Electronics and Largan Precision, are expected to benefit from strong sales of new smartphones released by China-based Xiaomi Technology and LeTV recently, according to industry sources.
Xiaomi started marketing its Mi 4i online in India on April 30 and received orders for 40,000 units in 15 seconds, according to the company.
Sales of Mi 4i are expected to gain further momentum as Xiaomi also plans to launch the model in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and other markets, said the sources.
Meanwhile, LeTV also reported that it received pre-orders for 2.63 million units of its LeTV One and LeTV One Pro on May 5, the first day when the two smartphones were open for orders.
Xiaomi is outsourcing the production of the Mi 4i to Foxconn Electronics, while LeTV is subcontracting the LeTV One to Compal and the LeTV One Pro to Pegatron. |
