Memory module maker Transcend Information has reported consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2015 declined about 9.8% from a year ago to NT$6.13 billion (US$199.5 million). Gross margin rose 1.8-percentage points on year to 21.3% in the first quarter, however, thanks to strong shipments of the company's high-margin product lines.
Transcend disclosed that its high-margin industrial control and strategic product segment generated revenues of NT$3.11 billion in the first quarter and accounted for 50.8% of the company's total revenues during the quarter. Transcend's industrial control and strategic products include rugged memory modules and SSDs.
Meanwhile, sales of Transcend's consumer flash modules were NT$2.19 billion in the first quarter accounting for 35.7% of the company's overall revenues during the quarter. Sales of its standard DRAM modules made up the remaining 13.5% of the first-quarter revenues.
Transcend collected net profits of NT$836 million in the first quarter of 2015, down about 7% on year. Net EPS for the quarter came to NT$1.94.
Looking forward, Transcend expects its industrial control products including SSDs to drive the company's revenue growth. For the second quarter, however, the company would experience a seasonal slowdown in demand for consumer electronics products. |
