At Microsoft's BUILD 2015 event, the Redmond company announced that support for Android and iOS apps is included in Windows 10. To be clear, you won't be able to take an existing APK file and install it on a Windows 10 device. Developers can, however, reuse their existing code written in Java or C++, which can be repackaged to run on Windows 10 using Microsoft's SDK.
Once the package is converted, developers will be able to make use of Windows APIs along with their existing code. These APIs will mirror the functions served by Android APIs.
Similarly, iOS apps written in Objective C can also be repackaged to run on Windows 10 devices. |
