LG has officially announced the G4. The Korean company's new flagship was announced at parallel media events in New York and London. First off, all those LG G4 related leaks are 100% true. The G4 indeed comes with a leather back, but that's only in some versions. Regular models will come with removable plastic back cover.

The LG G4 packs a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560x1440) display. Now, even the G3 packs a 5.5" QHD panel, but this one's different. This time, LG has made use of a 'Quantum' LCD panel, with which comes promises of 25% higher brightness, 20% wider color coverage, and 50% higher contrast (compared to the G3).

Next up is the chipset powering this flagship. LG opted for Qualcomm's second-in-command, the Snapdragon 808. We have heard enough tales about the Snapdragon 810, and so did LG. The Snapdragon 808 is similar to the Snapdragon 810, as both chips employ Cortex A57 and Cortex A53 CPU cores. The difference is that while the Snapdragon 810 is an octa-core chipset, the Snapdragon 808 makes do with 6 cores.

LG claims that closely working with Qualcomm, they have managed to squeeze out more performance from the Snapdragon 808 than the Exynos 7420 powering the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

The LG G4 also debuts the new LG UX 4.0, which is the company's very own Android trim. LG promises to keep the G4 free of bloatware.

At the back of the G4 lies the new 16MP camera sensor. It's got a f/1.8 lens, which is capable of gathering 11% more light compared to the f/1.9 camera sensor in the Galaxy S6. Also, the camera is supported by an OIS system that works over three axes. Panorama shots top out at 104MP, which is a lot when compared to 60MP on the Galaxy S6. Finally, there's an 8MP front-facing camera that will fulfill the needs of selfie-lovers. Both front and rear cameras can shoot 2160p videos.

Lastly, the G4 comes with a 3000mAh battery. The device can be charged wirelessly, but you'll need a different back cover to do so, which will be sold separately. You will be happy to know that the battery is user-replaceable.

The LG G4 will go on sale in Korea from tomorrow. Pricing details, and global availability are yet to be announced.
