There were 49.08 million tablets shipped globally in the first quarter of 2015, slipping 35.3% on quarter and 15.3% on year, with shipments consisting of 12.0 million iPads, 19.1 million non-iPad units and 18.0 million white-box units, according to Digitimes Research.
Of the shipments, 27.2% were for 7-inch models, 17.1% 7.9-inch ones, 10.4% 8.x-inch ones, 24.1% 9.x-inch ones and 15.4% 10.x-inch ones, Digitimes Research indicated.
Apple was the largest international vendor accounting for 24.4% of shipments, followed by Samsung Electronics with 17.9%, Lenovo with 4.2%, Asustek Computer with 3.5%, Microsoft with 1.8%, TCL with 1.6%, Amazon with 1.3%, Huawei Device with 1.2%, Acer with 1.2% and Dell with 0.7%.
Taiwan-based ODMs/OEMs combined to ship 17.6 million tablets in the quarter, taking up 56.8% of global total, and Foxconn Electronics accounted for 59.2% of the shipments, Compal Electronics for 17.7%, Pegatron for 10.9% and Quanta Computer for 9.9%. |
