Memory packaging and testing houses Powertech Technology (PTI) and Formosa Advanced Technologies (FATC) have reported on-year increases of 2.2% and 6.8%, respectively, in consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2015.

PTI saw its revenues climb to a 5-month high of NT$3.28 billion (US$105.6 million) in March 2015. Revenues totaled NT$9.43 billion for the first quarter of 2015, down 3.5% on quarter but up 2.2% on year.

In addition, a joint-venture plant between PTI and US-based Micron Technology is expected to start contributing to PTI's revenues in the first quarter of 2016, when the plant enters mass production. The plant located in Xian, China will be occupied by PTI to provide Micron with assembly and packaging services.

Market watchers expect PTI to generate record annual revenues in 2015.

Fellow company FATC posted revenues of NT$2.31 billion for the first quarter of 2015.

With Nanya Technology stepping up its pace of orders, FATC will enjoy significant revenue growth starting the second quarter, the watchers noted. FATC provides backend services mainly for Nanya, which has put increased focus on the market for niche-market DRAM chips.

FATC reported revenues of NT$9.2 billion for 2014, with net profits soaring to NT$843 million from NT$117 million a year earlier.
