MediaTek is a company that is mostly known by low- and mid-range chipsets, but the recently announced strategy reveal that will change. The company has announced two new chipsets that are designed for tablets and feature a 64-bit quad-core architecture.

Dubbed the MT8163 and MT8736, the chipsets are aimed at mid-range tablets with AnTuTu scores in the 30,000 area. Both feature four Cortex-A53 cores and supports 1080p display resolution, H.265 video, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0.
