Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) saw sales stay almost flat sequentially in August 2010, according to data released by the company. Market watchers expect the chip packaging and testing house to collect consolidated revenues of NT$16.5 billion (US$517 million) in the third quarter.
SPIL has reported revenues of NT$5.19 billion for August, down 0.2% on month. On a consolidated basis, sales were NT$ 5.57 billion, growing only 1% from July.
SPIL's revenues for September are expected to remain similar to the August levels, according to the watchers. Consolidated revenues for the third quarter will remain almost flat compared to the NT$16.39 billion generated in the second quarter, the watchers said.
In addition, the watchers estimated foundries might see their fourth-quarter wafer shipments drop by 10% sequentially, due to weakening market conditions. Foundries' upcoming shipment drops are likely to impact their backend partners' performance in the first quarter of 2011, the watchers indicated.
