Following the news that Microsoft could axe its ARM-based tablet lineup, DigiTimes reported that Chromebook market is getting two new ARM manufacturers. Google is looking to support more processors and MediaTek and Rockchip will release its solutions in 2015.
Google hopes that boosting device values and cutting prices will result in cheaper LTE-based products and increased shipments of the Chromebooks by 100%. While we have yet to see Chromebooks with MediaTek chips, Rockchip has already shown its own Chromebook which was based on a quad-core Rockchip RK3288 (Cortex A12) silicone with Mali-T764 CPU. |
