As Windows 9 announcement is closing, Microsoft plans to stop providing its PC partners with Windows 7 copies, meaning that computer manufacturers will have to switch to a newer Windows version for their computers. This will be active after October 31.

While many users chose to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7, they will eventually move to a newer version also as Microsoft will end Windows 7 mainstream support on January 13, 2015, while the extended support will last until January 14, 2020.
