ZTE and Microsoft have been successful in their patent dispute with InterDigital. The latter company had tried to claim that Zokia and ZTE were infringing on some of its patents, but the US International Trade Commission has ruled that is not the case. Instead, both Microsoft (Nokia) and ZTE are in the clear.
The Trade Commission says it had been investigating the claims but decided to stop the investigation because no evidence turned up of a violation. Seven patents were allegedly violated, and InterDigital filed a complaint with the ITC back in 2013 against Nokia and ZTE, both of which were supposedly using patented technology.
InterDigital hoped to not only prove its patents were infringed upon but to have infringing devices from both companies banned from the US market. Bans like those are not implemented very often, so InterDigital was fighting an uphill battle since the beginning. |
