NAND flash controller chipmaker Phison Electronics has reported net profits of NT$1.54 billion (US$51.32 million) or NT$8.51 per share on revenues of NT$15.79 billion for the first half of 2014.

The company also saw its gross margin improve to 18% in the second quarter of 2014, from 16% a quarter earlier. Second-quarter EPS stood at NT$4.35.

Phison expects its third-quarter profits to be higher than those posted in the previous quarter due to rising NAND flash prices on tight supply, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted company chairman Khein-Seng Pua as indicating.

SSD and eMMC products will be the growth drivers for Phison in 2015, Pua said.
