As the sales volume and value for TVs in the China market in the first half of 2014 decreased on year, the TV market is trending to becoming saturated over the next 3-5 years, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
According to China-based All View Consulting (AVC), there were 20.93 million TVs worth CNY69.6 billion (US$11.3 billion) sold in the China market in the first half of 2014, slipping 9% and 15% on year, respectively. Of the sales, 20.67 million units were of LCD TVs and the sales value was CNY68.3 billion, dropping 6% and 12%.
TV sales in the China market in 2014 is likely to shrink on year, the sources said. There are 6-8 first-tier China-based LCD TV vendors currently and there may be mergers in the near future due to market saturation, the sources indicated. |
