Production of the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 may begin next week, with the larger 5.5-inch model entering production in August. A new report citing supply chain sources throughout Asia says the iPhone 6 is completed, and the phone will enter mass production soon with the goal of reaching customers in the next few months.
Assuming this report is true, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 could be expected later in 2014, or at the same time as the 4.7-inch iPhone with less units. Apple may expect the larger iPhone to be less popular which would explain the later mass production start time.
Production of the iPhone 6 requires so many resources that some reports have indicated Foxconn is trying to hire 100,000 new workers to deal with the high demand. Thousands of employees are also being hired by some of Apple's smaller suppliers. |
