Chip packaging and testing service provider Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) has declined to comment on reports that it has received a large order from AMD for CPUs, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
The industry sources as reporting that AMD has notified its contract partners plans to place assembly and testing orders for several CPU series - mainly Athlon II X2 and Sempron - with SPIL. The orders will start contributing to the Taiwan-based firm's revenues and profits in the second half of 2010.
Previous reports have also speculated SPIL secures orders for AMD's 40nm Fusion CPUs, which reportedly are outsourced to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). |
