HTC has announced consolidated revenues of NT$16.23 billion (US$534 million) for March, growing 124.6% on month and 2.2% on year, buoyed by the release of its new flagship model the new HTC One (M8) and the mid-range HTC Desire 816.
Revenues for the first quarter of 2014 reached NT$33.12 billion, falling short of the company's target of NT$34-36 billion.
The company also posted a net loss of NT$1.88 billion or NT$2.28 per share for the first quarter.
HTC expects April revenues to be higher than March's and strong market demand for the HTC One (M8) and the HTC Desire 816 to continue to bring sequential revenue growth for the second quarter.
The company also expects to begin generate profits in the second quarter and will reveal its second-quarter guidance in early May.
Meanwhile, HTC and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) have signed a cooperation deal for 2014 focusing on combining both companies' operational resources to promote 4G LTE smartphones in Taiwan.
Sales of HTC smartphones through CHT's retail channel increased 70% on year in 2013, according to the two companies. |
