Display panels for the next Apple iPhone will reportedly enter into production as early as May. Upstream supply chain sources that are working closely with Apple claim that bigger displays are indeed coming, and that Apple has prioritized the production of 4.7-inch panels first. Japan Display, LG and Sharp have been contracted to produce the display panels.
Additionally, both 4.7" and 5.5" displays are rumored to make use of in-cell touch technology, which allows for thinner panels. However, the same tech is allegedly not as easy to implement with the larger 5.5-inch size, and hence its production has been pushed back a few months. Hopefully, this doesn't derail Apple's plans, according to previous reports, to launch both their new iPhone 6 models (phone and phablet) in September, later this year.
