As China-based Internet service providers, including Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent, have partnered with LCD TV vendors to offer smart LCD TVs for sale bundled with content contracts, demand for smart LCD TVs in the China market is expected to grow rapidly to account for more than 70% of all LCD TVs in 2014, much higher than the below 50% in 2013, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
LeTV took the initiative to launch 39-, 50- and 60-inch smart LCD TVs in the China market and will add 70-inch models in 2014, the sources noted.
China-based vendor TCL has cooperated with iQIYI, a video platform belonging to Baidu, to offer its TH+ smart LCD TVs for sale bundled with iQIYI contracts. TCL has initially launched a 48-inch model and plans to launch 49- and 55-inch ones in 2014, the sources said.
China-based vendor Skyworth has set up a content platform, Coocaa TV, through partnership with Alibaba specifically for launching smart LCD TVs, the sources noted. Skyworth has launched 42- and 55-inch smart LCD TVs and plans to launch a 50-inch model in 2014, the sources indicated.
In contrast, China-based vendors Konka and Xiaomi Technology have launched 39-, 55-inch smart LCD TVs and 47-inch ones, respectively, without cooperation with Internet service providers, the sources added. |
