Notebook shipments from Taiwan-based ODMs will remain weak in the fourth quarter as strong demand for tablets will continue to squeeze the notebook market, according to industry sources.
  Despite strong shipments recorded in September, most notebook ODMs will see their shipments begin to falter in October, remarked the sources.
  Quanta Computer is likely to ship only 3.7 million notebooks in October compared to four million units shipped in September, estimated the sources.
  Quanta's accumulative shipments for the fourth quarter, traditionally a peak season for notebook shipments, are expected to reach 11 million, up a mild 5% from the previous quarter, the sources added.
  Compal Electronics' October notebook shipments will reach three million units compared to 3.5 million shipped a month earlier, said the sources, adding that the company's total shipments for the fourth quarter are likely stay flat at 9.3 million units.
  Wistron and Inventec will see their shipments drop to two million units each in October from their respective shipments of 2.4 and 2.35 million in September, estimated the sources.
