Acer on November 5 released its financial report for the third quarter of 2013, recording a net loss per share of NT$4.82 (US$0.16).
  Acer posted consolidated revenues of NT$92.146 billion (US$3.09 billion), gross margin of 6.81%, net operating loss of NT$2.57 billion, and net loss of NT$13.120 billion for the third quarter.
  For January-September, Acer recorded consolidated revenues of NT$273.496 billion, gross margin of 7.89%, net operating loss of NT$3.154 billion, net loss of NT$12.949 billion and net loss per share of NT$4.76.
  The large net loss for the third quarter was mainly due to a NT$9.943 billion impairment in intangible assets arising from its marketing brands Gateway, Packard Bell and Founder, Acer explained.
  Acer chairman and CEO JT Wang on announced his resignation from the two positions. Acer's board of directors has decided to have Jim Wong, currently corporate president, take over the position of CEO beginning January 1, 2014 and have JT Wang remain as chairman until his term expires in June 2014.
  Acer's board of directors has also decided to raise additional paid-in capital through issuing up to 136 million new shares.
