Powertech Technology (PTI), which provides packaging and testing services for mainly memory ICs, saw its second-quarter sales increase 2.6% sequentially.
PTI has announced consolidated revenues of NT$3.12 billion (US$106.7 million) for June 2013, up 1.3% on month but down about 24% on year. Sales amounted to NT$9.45 billion in the second quarter of 2013, rising slightly from NT$9.21 billion in the prior quarter but down 20.6% from a year earlier.
PTI said previously that second-quarter sales would outperform the first-quarter levels thanks mainly to a pick-up in orders for mobile DRAM chips.
PTI reportedly has landed a pull-in of orders for mobile DRAM memory from Kingston Technology, which in late April acquired capacity equivalent to 20,000 12-inch wafers monthly from Powerchip Technology.
PTI's cumulative 2013 revenues through June totaled NT$18.66 billion, representing a 9.7% decrease from a year ago.
