Memory module firm Adata Technology enjoyed significant profit growth in the first quarter thanks to a pull-in of customer orders and support from its chip partners.
Adata has announced net profits of NT$673 million (US$22.5 million) on consolidated revenues of NT$7.6 billion for the first quarter of 2013. EPS for the quarter came to NT$3.20, compared to NT$0.73 in the prior quarter and NT$1.23 a year ago.
Adata indicated that rising DRAM and NAND flash prices boosted the company's sales in first-quarter 2013, which saw growth of 6.2% sequentially and 8.1% from a year ago. Gross margin for the first quarter also climbed to 17.29%, up over 6pp on quarter and about 7pp on year.
Meanwhile, clients have stepped up their pace of orders while chipmakers continue to support with a steady supply, Adata noted.
Looking forward, Adata commented that the overall memory IC industry for all of 2013 should remain undersupplied. The company expects to maintain stable profit growth in the second quarter.
