Notebook ODMs are expected to see on-month shipment declines in April with Compal Electronics and Wistron dropping about 10%. Meanwhile, Quanta and Pegatron will only see single-digit percentage drops on month.
Due to most brand vendors waiting for Haswell-based processors set for launch in June, they are holding back their orders until May.
Compal is expected to ship 3.7-3.8 million notebooks in April, down from 4.2 million units in March, Wistron from 2.4 million units to about 2.2 million units and Quanta from 3.5 million units to 3.3-3.4 million units. Pegatron shipped about 900,000 notebooks in March.
As for the second quarter, overall notebook shipments are expected to suffer a slight drop sequentially. |
