PHISON Electronics Chairman Kin-Shing Poon yesterday predicted prices of NAND Flash memory will reach a peak in mid-April, with the price stabilizing toward the end of the month.
The memory sector has emerged from the stagnation seen last October and November, according to Poon, adding that demand has outstripped supply due to the rapid growth in tablet computers and smartphones
Poon indicated that since 2003, stock shortages have never persisted for more than five months; therefore prices are expected to stabilize toward the end of April.
Poon expects NAND prices to remain relatively stable with movement in prices limited to lower ranges.
