Samsung Electronics' Taiwan-based component suppliers, including those for connectors, cooling modules, keyboards and chassis, expect to obtain increased orders as Samsung aims to increase its global notebook shipments from 5.5 million units in 2009 to 10 million in 2010, according to sources from component suppliers citing figures from research firms.
However, key components such as panels and DRAM are currently still produced in-house by Samsung.
The sources pointed out that Samsung's orders in both January and February were stable, but volumes are starting to pick up in March with an average on-month growth higher than the 20% makers expected.
Cooling module maker Auras Technology had about 20% of its consolidated revenues contributed by Samsung orders in January, double the amount from a year ago, the sources noted.
