Samsung Electronics has placed Taiwan-based Transcend Information under its direct account list, revoking the distribution rights of its IC parts to the DRAM module maker assigned to IC distributor Supreme Electronics, according to industry sources.

Samsung intends to reduce the number of its component distributors in Taiwan, while expanding its distribution network in China, the sources claimed, adding that Supreme has been distributing Samsung's DRAM and flash products to Transcend.

Supreme said that it acknowledges Samsung's policy and that Transcend will become a direct account of Samsung in 2013.

Meanwhile, Supreme has also been deepening its deployment in China and has been assigned by Samsung to distribute AMOLED panels to branded smartphone vendors in China, indicated the sources.
