Micron Technology has announced high volume availability of its 45nm phase change memory (PCM) for mobile devices featuring 1-gigabit (Gb) PCM plus 512-megabit (Mb) LPDDR2 in a multichip package.
PCM provides enhanced boot time, simplifies software development and boosts performance with overwrite capability, Micron said, adding that PCM also provides low power consumption and high reliability. In addition, the design-optimizing shared interface between LPDDR2 and PCM is fully compliant with JEDEC industry standards, Micron noted.
Micron indicated that its 45nm PCM solution is currently targeted for utilization in feature phones, with a future roadmap aimed at addressing smartphones and media tablets.
In a separate announcement also made on the same day, Micron revealed that its Crucial m4 mSATA SSD series for ultrathin noltebooks is now available in capacities ranging from 32Gb to 256GB with an MSRP starting at US$52.99. The Crucial m4 mSATA SSD offers sequential read speeds up to 500MB per second and validation for Intel Smart Response technology and Dataplex caching software from NVELO.
