IC packagers Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) both saw their May revenues register single-digit growth.
ASE's core IC ATM (assembly test and material) business generated revenues of NT$11.07 billion (US$370 million) in May 2012, up 4% sequentially and 1% from a year ago. Consolidated revenues, which include sales generated by EMS subsidiary Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), totaled NT$15.64 billion in the month.
SPIL reported consolidated revenues of NT$5.73 billion for May 2012, up 5.4% on month and a larger 18% on year. The firm accumulated NT$20.55 billion in consolidated sales from January through April, up 6.7% from the same period of 2011.
SPIL said previously that second-quarter sales would increase 7-11% sequentially while ASE predicted a 15% sequential rise in second-quarter shipments. ASE did not provide a revenue guidance.
