Walton Advanced Engineering, a Taiwan-based provider of memory IC packaging/testing services, is expected to see revenues for the second quarter of 2012 increase 15-20% on quarter mainly because of strong demand for specialty DRAM and mobile DRAM, according to industry sources.
Walton has obtained orders with shipments scheduled for the end of June, the sources indicated. The company is likely to benefit from surging demand for standard DRAM arising from ultrabooks and Windows 8 to be launched in the second half of 2012, the sources noted. Accordingly, Walton will see utilization of its packaging/testing capacity rise from 80% in the first quarter to 90% in the second, and further to 100% in the third, the sources said.
Walton brought in consolidated revenues of NT$715 million (US$24.2 million) in April, up 1.76% on month but down 0.84% on year. January-April consolidated revenues of N$2.565 billion dipped 8.08% on year. |
