Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) saw sales of its core IC ATM (assembly test and material) business grow 3.9% on month to NT$9.49 billion (US$320 million) in February 2012 while consolidated revenues at fellow packaging firm Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) slid 4% sequentially to NT$4.69 billion.
On an annual basis, February sales of ASE's IC ATM unit were 0.7% higher than the NT$9.42 billion posted a year ago, while SPIL's consolidated revenues for the month showed a 6.3% rise.
Sales of ASE's IC ATM division totaled NT$18.83 billion for the first two months of 2012. The firm said previously the core operation would post another sequential decrease of 6-9% in shipments in the first quarter, with ASPs staying flat.
ASE saw revenues generated from the IC ATM unit slip 2.1% on quarter to NT$31.91 billion in the fourth quarter of 2011. Consolidated revenues, which include sales by EMS subsidiary Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), decreased 1% sequentially to NT$46.39 billion in the fourth quarter.
SPIL reported NT$9.58 billion in consolidated sales for January through February. The firm estimated consolidated revenues would slide 3-7% sequentially to NT$14.6-15.2 billion in the first quarter.
