Memory packaging and testing firm Powertech Technology (PTI) will likely see January revenues hit a record high for the fifth month in a row, and 2010 revenues to also reach an all-time high, according to industry sources. PTI's capacity currently remains tight, with stable orders from Elpida Memory and Toshiba.
Rival Walton Advanced Engineering, whose major DRAM customers include Elpida, Nanya Technology and Winbond Electronics, is also expected to benefit from the DRAM industry recovery in 2010, the sources indicated. Walton has a chance of seeing 2010 revenues bounce back to the same levels as in 2008.
PTI's fourth-quarter revenues grew 6.1% sequentially to NT$8.6 billion, which was in line with the company's guidance. It was quoted in previous reports saying revenues for first-quarter 2010 are set to remain similar to levels in third-quarter 2009 despite fewer working days.
PTI is scheduled to hold an investors conference on February 4 to release its financial results for fourth-quarter 2009 and guidance for the ongoing first quarter of 2010.
Walton has announced revenues for fourth-quarter 2009 increased 6.8% on quarter to NT$1.6 billion, and said sales proportion from the DDR3 segment reached 30%.
Walton's upcoming investors conference will take place on February 2.
