SK Hynix said on Wednesday that it has developed a new high capacity solid-state drive (SSD) aimed at AI data centers.

PS1012 U.2 is based on quad-level cells (QLC) and offers 61TB capacity.

It also has PCIe Gen 5 applied so it has double the bandwidth of its predecessor. The SSD also has a sequential read speed of 13GB/s and data transfer rate of 32GT/s.

SK Hynix said the drive also supports OCP2.0 to make it more compatible to various server devices on data centers.

SK Hynix said a 122TB model of the SSD will launch next year in the third quarter.

In November, SK Hynix also developed a 321-layer NAND-based 244TB SSD.
