The Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association(TSIA) said,the International Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) estimated that the output value of Taiwan's overall IC industry in the first quarter of this year was 1.1592 trillion yuan (NTD, the same below) or about 39.2 billion U.S. dollars, including IC design, manufacturing, packaging, Test, an increase of 4.8% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 28.1%. IC manufacturing accounted for 666.7 billion yuan with the largest proportion. It is estimated that the output value of Taiwan's IC industry will reach 4.8751 trillion yuan this year, or about 164 billion US dollars.

TSIA said that in the first quarter, the output value of Taiwan's IC design industry was 330 billion yuan, or about 11.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.9% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 26.8%.The output value of IC manufacture was 666.7 billion yuan,or about 22.5 billion US dollars with an increase of 8.7% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 33.3%.Among them,wafer foundry's output value was 596.9 billion yuan, or about 20.2 billion US dollars, with an increase of 10.5% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 36.5%.The output value of memory chip and other manufacturing were 69.8 billion yuan, or about 2.4 billion US dollars, with a month-on-month decline of 4.9% % and an increase of 11.3% year-on-year.

TSIA pointed out that in the first quarter, the IC packaging industry's output value was 110 billion yuan, or about 3.7 billion US dollars, down 8.3% from the previous quarter and up 11.8% year-on-year.The IC testing industry's output value was 52.5 billion yuan, or about 1.8 billion US dollars with down 4.5% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 14.1%.

The units above 100 million yuan are in New Taiwan dollars, and the exchange rate against the US dollar is calculated at 28.0.
