NAND flash controller IC maker Phison Electronics has seen its order visibility extend to the first half of November thanks to increasing demand for NAND flash-based SSDs used in ultrabooks, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted company chairman Khein Seng Pau as indicating.
Phison's third-quarter revenues will be higher than its original expectations due to an influx of short lead-time orders, Pau said, adding that the company is also positive about the outlook for the fourth quarter.
Shipments of embedded eMMC NAND devices from Kingston Electronics, a joint venture between Kingston Technology and Phison, has ramped up to one million units a month in the second half of 2011 compared to 500,000 units in the first half, said the paper. |
