Xiaomi became the largest smartphone seller in the world, for the first time ever, in June this year. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi’ monthly sales volume increased 26 percent from the previous month in June, when it recorded a global market share of 17.1 percent. That month, Samsung Electronics’ market share was 15.7 percent. For reference, the global market shares of Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi were 21.9 percent and 5.2 percent in June 2015, respectively. In June this year, Apple came in third in terms of sales and recorded a global market share of 14.3 percent.
