Mainstream DRAM spot pricing jumped once again last week (September 19-23) on supply issues while NAND flash remained flat prior to the peak season.
In addition to the announcement of production cuts from Taiwan vendors, some vendors have limited their shipments to the spot market, which stimulated a sharp price increase, the research firm said. Meanwhile, Kingston officially increased prices.
As of the noon session of September 23, spot pricing of a branded 2Gb chip rocketed 3% to US$1.22 and DDR3 white-branded 2Gb DDR3 surged 13% to US$1.01, according to the research firm.
Though the traditional peak season is around the corner, the overall NAND flash spot market has been affected by the uncertain global economic risk with high density MLC prices flat again this week.
As of September 23, the spot price for 32Gb MLC chips rose to US$3.60 while 64Gb MLC was flat at US$6.24, said the research firm.
