Shenzhen Goodix Technology has reached a definitive agreement with NXP Semiconductors under which it will acquire all assets of NXP's voice and audio solutions (VAS) business, according to the China-based fabless chipmaker. The transaction includes employees based in Europe and Asia, and relevant intellectual properties.

NXP's VAS business offers premium voice and audio solutions for leading smartphone manufacturers worldwide, with its portfolio including software and hardware solutions for mobile devices and various IoT applications, Goodix noted.

As part of the transaction, Goodix continued, the company will acquire certain voice and audio IPs, as well as an industry leading engineering team. This will extend Goodix's product portfolio in the mobile market and strengthen its strategic deployment in the IoT field, it said.

"The acquisition represents a strategic move in Goodix's growth plan," said company CEO David Zhang. "The transaction will enhance our existing mobile and IoT product lines, significantly strengthen our R&D capabilities in audio applications such as hearables, allowing us to offer our customers a more comprehensive portfolio and accelerate Goodix's strategic development via innovation."
