Acer expects its sales of gaming notebooks in the US to continue to grow at a double-digit rate in 2019, enabling the company to maintain its top-ranked position in the segment, according to company vice president of US retail channel John Nguyen.

During the seven-month period from May to December 2018, Acer was the top gaming notebook vendor in the US market for six months, Nguyen said, adding that Acer will be able to maintain its leadership in 2019, riding high on robust demand in the market.

Acer's shipments of gaming notebooks in the US increased 103% on year in February 2019, with its shipment volume accounting for a 23% share, Nguyen said, citing a market report.

To further promote its gaming notebook models, the company is also demonstrating an e-sport cockpit, dubbed Predator Thronos, at Microsoft's flagship shop at the Fifth Avenue in New York City.

The Predator Thronos is equipped with a display with highest resolution, a gaming PC powered by an i9 process, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2080TI graphics card, packed with 64G of RAM, 1TB SSD and 2TB hard drive, and is available at US$29,900, Nguyen indicated.

Acer also announced a new Concept D-brand product line at an event in New York, including notebooks, desktops, VR headsets and other peripherals, with some hardware items featuring video editing capability.

Meanwhile, Nguyen also noted that Acer's Chromebook models have also made headway into the consumer market in the US in addition to the educational market, with the prospect to continue to expand robustly in 2019.
