Xiaomi will focus its marketing efforts to promote smartphones and smart home products in Taiwan in 2019, according to Yan Lau, president of Xiaomi Taiwan.

In consideration of distribution of the company's resources, Xiaomi will also give priority to promoting premium smartphone models in local market, switching from its previous shotgun approach, said Lau, who also serves as sales director of Xiaomi Hong Kong..

The concerted marketing efforts allowed Xiaomi to sell out one million units of its recently released Xiaomi Mi 9 in Taiwan in March, Lau revealed.

While continuing to expand its online and offline sales operations, Xiaomi is overhauling its channel distribution systems, aiming to increase the number of sales partners.

Xiaomi has recently teamed up with Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) for smartphone sales and is in talks for cross-industry cooperation with a number of companies, Lau added.

The company will team up with channel partners to hold a series of roadshows to promote such products as air cleaners, smart speakers and sweeping robots.
